siem reap airport (SAI) opened in mid-October 2023, is the new hub for tourism in northern Cambodia. Flight trials were successfully completed in May 2023, and a new road is being built from the Siem Reap Aquarium to the airport. Developed by Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co Ltd, the airport will have a 4E category and a runway of 3,600 meters. It will feature 48 gates and have the capacity to handle 7 million passengers initially, with projected growth to 10 million by 2030 and 20 million by 2050. Cargo capacity is also expected to increase significantly. The new airport will be called Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport. The main traffic to the airport will be tourists visiting Siem Reap's Angkor archaeological park. The new airport is located 50 km east of Siem Reap town in Sotr Nikum district's Ta Yek commune.
